How To: Add Motors to Your Platform

Adding Motors directly to your site is now easier than ever. Dealership Tools’ Dealership Management Platform is directly linked to your brand- new site. With access to the tools within the platform, you will now be able to see your company-added inventory and content updates within minutes.

How to add a Motor

Dealership Tools allows you to add important details about your Motors. Below, we have a quick 6 step process for adding your inventory. In minutes, you will have your Motor live on your site.

Step 1 – Motor Specifications

a. Add the specifications in the column such as: Status, Engine Type, Fuel Type, Stroke Type, Compression Ratio, etc.
b. Continue adding the specifications in this column such as: Selling Price, Engine Hours, Year, Manufacturer, Shaft Length, Engine Oil Capacity, etc.
c. Add a personalized description. The information added in this section will be displayed as an overview of the Motor. Be sure to include only necessary information, in sentence-like forms.
d. Select ‘Save And Continue’ to go to Step 2.
e. Select ‘View Motors’ if you wish to exit the ‘Add Motor’ process and be led back to the listings page of your current active Motors.
f. Select ‘Manufacturers’ to be taken to the Motor Manufacturer Management Section.

Step 2 – Display Options

a. Check this box to set this Motor as a current ‘In Stock’ Motor. If your company currently has this ‘New’ or ‘Preowned’ Motor on your physical lot, set this to In-Stock so your customers know they can visit and see the Motor in person.
b. Leave this section turned off. Dealership Tools is making some upgrades, we will alert you when the functionality for this has been updated.
c. Check this box to display the Motor on your website. This will designate if the Motor is actively shown on the site.
d. Select ‘Save and Continue’ to continue on to Step 3.
e. Select ‘View Motors’ if you wish to exit the ‘Add Motor’ process and be led back to the listings page of your current active Motors.
f. Select ‘Manufacturers’ to be taken to the Motor Manufacturer Management Section.

Step 3 – Motor Images

a. Select the ‘Upload’ button and then the ‘Choose File’ button to begin selecting the image you would like to upload for this Motor. Upon selecting your images, you will then have to click the ‘Upload’ button to begin the upload process.

a. Upon upload, you will then see 2 more buttons: ‘Brochure’ & ‘Remove’. Before saving, you can mark the image as ‘Brochure’ or you can remove any that you decided weren’t necessary.

b. Select ‘Save and Continue’ to move on to Step 4.
c. Select ‘View Motors’ if you wish to exit the ‘Add Motor’ process and be led back to the listings page of your current active Motors.
d. Select ‘Manufacturers’ to be taken to the Motor Manufacturer Management Section.

Step 4 – Motor Videos

a. Select ‘Upload’ to add a YouTube Video URL. You will need to have a YouTube URL ready to be placed in the Upload pop up.
b. Select ‘Save and Continue’ to move onto Step 5.
c. Select ‘View Motors’ if you wish to exit the ‘Add Motor’ process and be led back to the listings page of your current active Motors.
d. Select ‘Manufacturers’ to be taken to the Motor Manufacturer Management Section.

Step 5 – Motor Documents

a. Select ‘Upload’ to upload a .pdf version of whatever documents you wish to share with this Motor.
b. Select ‘Save and Continue’ to continue on to Step 6.
c. Select ‘View Motors’ if you wish to exit the ‘Add MotorMotor’ process and be led back to the listings page of your current active Motors.
d. Select ‘Manufacturers’ to be taken to the Motor Manufacturer Management Section.

Step 6 – Motor Tags

a. Select ‘Add Tag’ to begin adding tags. Tags can be added to help organize your inventory.

a. If the Fully Managed or Marketing Packages have been selected, DT’s will add a ‘Brochure Motor’ tag to your New Brochure Models from your manufacturers.
b. Other tag ideas to help organize your inventory internally are: ‘Sold’, ‘In Stock’, ‘Processing’, ‘On the Hook’, etc.

b. Select ‘View Motors’ if you wish to exit the ‘Add Motor’ process and be led back to the listings page of your current active Motors.
c. Select ‘Manufacturers’ to be taken to the Motor Manufacturer Management Section.
d. Select ‘Finish’ to finalize the updates to your newly added Motor.

Where will the Motors display on our site?

If your dealership sells Motors, they are obviously worth being highlighted in the main navigation of your site. Upon navigation to the Motors page, you will have a view page of all of your active Motors. When a user clicks on the Motor, they will be directed to the detail page where additional information, images and other media will be displayed.

How to edit/delete Motors within your platform

Editing and deleting Motors from your platform and website is just as easy as adding them:

a. Login to your Dealership Marketing Platform Account.
b. Go to the ‘Motors’ section.
c. Select the row of the Motor you wish to edit/delete.
d. Edit the desired information.

a. If you want to inactivate a Motor, navigate to the ‘Display Options’ and uncheck the ‘Active’ box.

e. Select ‘Save Motor Information’ to update the edits to the Motor.
f. Delete the Motor by staying on the ‘Motor Details’ tab and scrolling down to the bottom of the page and selecting the ‘Delete’ button.

a. Select ‘OK’ if you wish to follow through with the deletion.
